Ephemera is evolving into still-life & home rather than the fashion, "pretty things" collective it began as. I can't seem to shake this obsession with exposed light bulbs. There is a small corner of my living area just screaming for this type of hanging installation. I promise, I will remember to shut them ALL off when I leave the room.

Stuck at home all day due to a snowstorm but feeling completely inspired as a result. Check out Tine K's home catalog which screams Christmas done right.

Time to dig out the branch cutters, dried pine cones, and paper ornaments. The clear glass bulbs are perfection hanging from raw branches. I'd prefer just a bit more twinkle in my space but this styled set feels flawless.

Guido Palau’s basket-weave hairstyles for Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 are getting me all hot & bothered. I remember doing something similar back in the days of hair school with a mannequin head sitting on my desk. I love the roughness at the ends and the sort of unfinished, hand-made result.

As a part-time hairstylist I frequent many beauty blogs along with my design blog reads. Recently I stumbled across a stylist by the name of Lou Young stationed in London. I was extremely impressed by his approach and found him to be one of the more unique stylists I've encountered. He believes in embracing hair's natural texture and frowns upon over-styling and "ridiculous" hair show examples. I find this incredibly refreshing because I've always approached my client's hair in the same way. Don't work against nature, embrace what you have. I am loving the idea of these centerpieces from Love'n Fresh Flowers. The arrangement is organic and simply beautiful. I'm thinking of using a similar concept for Christmas gifts this year, but subbing the pumpkin for something more season appropriate. Adding a modern element, such as glass or votive candles, to the piece could create that Christmas twinkle and eliminate the perishable goods. Could turn into something a little more lasting and permanent.

Okay, fine. I'll type more. It's become apparent that my self-indulgent posts of visual photogasmic eye candy is lacking content and a voice. So, let's talk. Let's discuss. And even if you scroll down just to see the pictures, like flipping through USWeekly, at least you have the option.

Below are some ridiculous photographs by Petra Bindel done for Elle Decoration (Swedish edition). The styling is A++ and I'm truly loving the organic feel in each pic. I believe the art text in the first pic is some sort of cord or wire, either fits beautifully above the workspace. Speaking of wires, I've find exposed skinny electrical wires, strung effortlessly, to be especially appealing as of late. Something I would ordinarily try to hide. In the second pic, you can see an example of this adding realness and functionality to the space. And don't even get me started on those workshop chairs..

I've said it again and again, I love when functionality meets trendy. Ombre highlights (done by free hand or balayage) has been one of my favorite hair color trends in the salon world for years but since we've been so conditioned to fear re-growth or root color, it hasn't caught on to the general public. I'm so glad to see it being done right as of late and just in time for fall. Finally, less re-touching tight to scalp highlights every 4 weeks. This is a trend we can literally "grow into".

When I saw Henriette Willerup and Anton Greiffenberg's "Villa Else" I imagined they never have to worry about weekend getaway anxieties, instead immersifying themselves in a second home that feels like a first.

I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect coral lipstick, especially in a matte. This is an effort I've exhausted time and time again because just like hair color, the best reds are made in Europe. While Mac makes a great pro pigment (NeoOrange), Makeup Forever has the best lip liner (18c), and Revlon has the best budget lipgloss (Coral Reef), no one does it better than Illamasqua. They create the most pigmented, matte colors in the market, it's no wonder they go for $20 a pop.
